It Starts with You

I'm a big believer in self-care, I use the term "treat yourself" way more than I like to admit lol, but in all fairness, the only way you can love someone is if you love yourself first! Self-care doesn't necessarily mean shopping sprees and massages, (although I'm not opposed to it) it also means reconnecting with yourself on a more spiritual level. Now you don't have to be religious at all to connect with yourself or someone else on a more intimate level, this just means that the both of you are sharing the same fundamental values, life goals, and dreams as one another. Now if your dream is to become a famous pop star and travel the world, and your s/o dream is to one day own a farm and grow their own crops... well hate to break it to you, but I don't see this working out for you both. But if you and your s/o have dreams of getting a house, adopting a dog, and one day retiring in the mountains, then yes you can most definitely connect on a spiritual level. When one does a spiritual connection it's not psychical at all. it's more verbal, the communication barrier is broken down and you can discuss your most inner thoughts on life, and love. It is a judgment free zone, and its meant to reconnect you with yourself, as well as your partner. We all know life is busy, and sometimes things get in the way, but taking some time to talk to your s/o makes all the difference. Reconnecting with yourself on a spiritual level is a little more complex if you ask me. No one wants to dig deep into their soul to see what lies within. It's like a chest of emotions we've locked shut in hopes of never having to see it again, but that's not how it works. You can push it down all you want, but eventually it will burst wide open at the most inopportune time, and the Starbucks barista will not understand why you're crying over your soy chai latte. Take some time to get to know yourself again, you are not the same person you were a year ago, things change. You have faced obstacles that you would have never dreamt of, but it made you who you are. don't let anyone take that from you. Everyday is a new day to learn and grow, Rome wasn't built in a day and neither were you. Take time to have some self care, read a book, do a face mask, write down in a journal, try something new, I hear yoga is great for the mind and body! Just don't forget to love yourself, you come first, everything else just falls into place when you're happy. 😘
